Third Street Music School Settlement

Parent Involvement

At Third Street Preschool, parent involvement is highly valued and actively encouraged as an integral part of the school's community. The school recognizes that parents play a pivotal role in their child's early education journey and, as such, provides numerous opportunities for them to actively participate in the fabric of school life.

Parents are welcomed to volunteer in various capacities, from classroom activities to special events, creating a sense of partnership between the school and families. This collaborative approach not only strengthens the bonds within the community but also enriches the educational experience for the children, fostering a sense of unity and support that extends beyond the classroom. Through these opportunities, Third Street Preschool ensures that parents are engaged partners in their child's educational growth and development.

Parent Reps

Two parents from each class meet monthly with Debra and Kirstin to share classroom news and plan for the month ahead. They help organize classroom parties, larger school events, and serve as point people for all of the families in their class around helping to facilitate these events.

Equity & Belonging Committee

We believe that your child’s school experience is enhanced by joining with us in partnership. Parents are invited to volunteer their time in many ways, from participating in classroom activities to joining committees for special events. By collaborating together, parents have the opportunity to learn more about their child’s teachers, become a part of our school community, and are actively engaged partners in their child’s educational growth and development.

Third Street Gala Committee
Planning for the annual Third Street Gala is always fun, and a great way to connect with families whose children attend the music school. The gala is the largest fundraiser of the year and money raised during this event goes toward tuition assistance for both the preschool and the Music School.

Learning Garden

From composting to planting to harvesting, our students and families learn not only about planting from seed and tending a garden, but about what it means to be a steward of the earth. The committee meets regularly to plan activities in the garden that serve as an extension of our classrooms. Families are invited to join us as we plant seeds, collect compost from our worms, conduct experiments and to think creatively.

Fall Festival Committee

Families create a wonderful weekend party that includes crafts, food, and entertainment. It is an opportunity to come together early in the school year to celebrate all things fall as a community!

Cultural Celebrations Committee

We believe that partnering with our families enriches everyone’s first school experience and invites all to share traditions and customs from home with their Third Street Family! Third Street is a place where everyone’s unique identity is celebrated. This committee meets regularly to plan classroom and school wide activities that will educate our students and also afford them the opportunity to learn about cultures and traditions that are different from their own.

Social Action Committee

People are people are people. Friends take care of each other. This committee will help create new opportunities to plant the seeds of learning around how to be good citizens of the earth. We learn about kind acts, we learn about friendship, we learn that everyone needs a little extra support sometimes. We bake, we cook using food from our garden, we make cards, and we share these items with people who might need them.
