Twos are warmly welcomed into their classroom spaces each morning and are invited to delve into the day’s activities. Puzzles, easel painting, dramatic play, literature and sensory activities are thoughtfully introduced daily, to infuse varied learning experiences to delve into every day. The Twos enjoy daily outdoor time, healthy snacks, story times, group activities, Music and Movement, led by our Third Street Specialists, Learning Garden experiences and family style lunch. Each morning has a familiar rhythm that is easy for Twos to anticipate and enjoy. The Twos day is rich with hands-on, experiential learning opportunities in a safe, nurturing space.

Five-Day Program: Monday - Friday, 9:00 AM - 12:30 PM

Threes
3-4 years
Each day, Threes arrive at Third Street ready to explore. With growing independence, they take pride in skills like hanging up coats and choosing how to begin their day—at the Sensory Table, in Dramatic Play, Block Building, or the Science Center.
Morning Meetings encourage children to share with friends and teachers. Early reading and math concepts are introduced in playful, meaningful ways, such as graphing favorite apple colors or making predictions during class experiments.
Through imaginative play, children build friendships and explore their social worlds—caring for babies, becoming firefighters, or transforming into dragons and mermaids. These play experiences help them make sense of the world around them.
In addition to classroom learning, Threes enjoy daily outdoor play, Learning Garden time, music and movement classes twice a week with Third Street Music School specialists, and a weekly art class. Around age 3.5, they may begin private instrument lessons through our PIP (Preschool Instrument Program), guided by a music teacher in a one-on-one setting.
Schedule
Half-Day Program: Monday - Friday, 9:00 AM - 12:30 PM
Full-Day Program: Monday - Friday, 9:00 AM - 3:00 PM
Fours
4-5 years
In addition to the continuation of learning opportunities introduced in our 3s classes, we begin to see children’s interests ignited through intricate block building, neighborhood trips, thoughtful plans for our Learning Garden, and cooking on a regular basis in our 4s classroom space. These experiences lead to detailed discussions, emerging literacy and integrated math challenges; all of which help prepare our students for their next school steps, be they in public or independent kindergartens. Our oldest preschoolers may elect to begin private instrument lessons in the Preschool Instrument Program (PIP). In addition to all of their classroom activities each day, they also have the opportunity to make strong connections and extend their learning through the arts as they go to their specials. The Fours have Music and Movement class weekly, Ballet once a week, and Art once a week.
As children transition to kindergarten, we hope that each child feels confident about who they are as unique individuals. It is our hope that we have helped lay a solid foundation for each student, so they move forward with a love of life-long learning for all things both academic and in the arts, meaningful first friendships, community, resilience, and a strong, confident sense of self and wonderful memories of their time at Third Street; ready to take on the rigors of kindergarten!
