Welcome

A Message from Debra Frankel

Director, Third Street Preschool

We’re so glad you’re interested in Third Street Preschool.

This is a place where learning and the arts meet. We focus on all areas of a child’s development—social/emotional, cognitive, motor, and language and literacy—through a rich, play-based curriculum. As part of the historic Third Street Music School Settlement, our students also take classes in creative movement, instrument exploration, gross motor activities, and visual arts. These sessions are led by professional musicians, dancers, and artists, who are trained to work with young children and collaborate closely with classroom teachers as well.

We are deeply committed to equity and belonging. Nestled in the heart of the East Village, Third Street welcomes families of all backgrounds. As a non-denominational school, we invite families to share their traditions and celebrations, enriching our vibrant community.

After decades leading early childhood programs in Manhattan and Westchester, I fell in love with Third Street. My favorite place to be at school is working with the children, teachers and families—be it playing music, visiting our classrooms, or discussing all things early childhood. Third Street’s creative spirit, inclusive values, and historic setting make it a truly singular place. I’m always happy to share more about what makes it so remarkable.

Sincerely,

Debra
